Summer experience Resterkogel

A lot has happened on the Resterkogel since last summer. The Resterkogel summer experience has been created in the immediate vicinity of the Panoramabahn Kitzbühel Alps mountain station with a panoramic window into the national park. A climbing wall, a bobby-car race track, trampolines and a Kneipp pool make the hearts of families and children beat faster. The water nature trail at the Resterkogel reservoir tells of the importance of water for the Resterkogel habitat. In the shallow water zone, children can splash around and let off steam as they please.

Tip: The viewing platform at the Resterkogel reservoir offers nature lovers, connoisseurs and sports enthusiasts a panoramic resting place and atmospheric location for a beautiful souvenir photo with the magnificent mountain scenery of the Hohe Tauern in the background. The best way to do this is to use the photo point directly on the platform of the lake.

Nature trail water experience reservoir Resterkogel

A reservoir was built on the Resterkogel in 2005, surrounded by numerous artificial and natural biotopes. The reservoir measures 10.5 meters at its deepest point and holds around 175,000 m³ of water. KitzSki uses this amount to produce technical snow in winter, an important component for the high quality of the pistes. The platform is a popular place to take a souvenir photo; happy faces in the foreground, the glistening crystals of the reservoir and the white peaks of the Hohe Tauern in the background. Good to know: With a valid lift ticket, the souvenir photo can also be taken at the photo point (in the immediate vicinity of the platform). The photos can be downloaded free of charge from skiline.cc.

Special feature: Resterkogel watershed

The Resterhöhe and the adjoining ridge towards the “Zweitausender” form the watershed. Depending on where a raindrop hits, it takes its course towards the Jochberger Ache (Tyrolean side) or towards the Salzach (Salzburg side).
